Our speaker is Ryan Wehrs of Federated Insurance. Ryan is a Marketing Representative for Federated, covering Minneapolis, but this isn’t a sales presentation. This is about taking preventative steps today that can keep your business safe!

About the Program

This is a practical look at today's low-voltage control systems, and the many wiring combinations technicians encounter in the field. The days of simple R-to-R, C-to-C, Y-to-Y, and W-to-W connections are largely behind us. Modern systems now incorporate staging controls, outdoor temperature lockouts, IAQ devices, communicating accessories, and a growing list of control options that can quickly become confusing. Together, we'll break down:

Common low-voltage wiring configurations
Control board terminals and jumper settings
Staging and accessory integration
Outdoor temperature lockout strategies
IAQ device connections
Troubleshooting techniques using a voltmeter

Bring your EDC (Everyday Carry) voltmeter and put it to the test as we work through real-world scenarios challenges.

About the Instructor

Bob Cone is a Technical Support Manager for Stevens Equipment Supply (SES), where he leads and develops a team of six Regional Technical Training/Services Managers across the SES network. Prior to joining SES, Bob built an impressive 24-year career with Lennox Industries in a similar training capacity. With over 45 years of HVACR experience, Bob's extensive expertise includes time as an HVAC contractor serving the unique demands of Death Valley, CA. He is deeply committed to the industry's future, actively engaging with vocational schools and contractor organizations to enhance their HVAC education programs.
